The Split Riviera is situated in the middle part of the east Adriatic coast and covers the area from the district Marina to the district Gradac. Included are the islands Brac, Hvar, Vis, Solta, Drvenik, as well as the Dalmatinska zagora with the towns Sinj, Imotski and Vrgorac.
The geotraffical position, climate, sea, indented coastline, rich streamflows and impounded lakes, and large Karst valleys are the natural basis for the development of maritime, trade, shipbuilding, fishery, specific Mediterranean agricultural production, and especially tourism.
Except for the regular tourism, a strong development of nautical tourism has also taken place recently. It resulted in building 6 modern marinas, i.e. 1100 berths. Different travel agencies and private ship operators offer around 2000 places in cabins and suites on the boats, which organize cruising trips.
The city of Split is situated in the warmest region of the northern Mediterranean coast, in the very centre of the Adriatic eastern coast. Its mild climate, with 2700 sunny hours per year, makes it an oasis where, sheltered from the wind, one can enjoy the sun even in wintertime.
Many people call Split, a town under the protection of UNESCO, “the most beautiful town in the world”. This ageless city with the population of around 300,000 inhabitants (including its wide area), which give it a warm Mediterranean charm, lives with its urban rhythm for already more than 1,700 years, it abounds in many cultural and historical monuments and one of the best examples of it is the widely known Palace of Deocletian.

Kornati
The local people say that after He had created the world, God was left with some white rocks.
He threw them into the sea, took a glance at the outcome, was satisfied and decided that no improvement was needed. In this way he created the Kornati Islands. Come and convince yourself that this is not merely a legend! more
