One of the largest places on the northwestern part of the island of the same name. The island lies at the entrance to the Kornati Archipelago. It is connected to the mainland by bridge at the place of Tisno. It lies 30 km from Sibenik. The place was founded in the 15th century. Tourism started to develop in the 1930s so that nowadays Murter is a tourist center. The Bay of Hramina has a marina with 400 berths and 250 dry docking places. The neighboring bay, Slanica, has a hotel complex and a swimming area with facilities. The area has many tranquil inlets and quiet beaches for those looking for privacy. Murter’s tourist offer, besides the above-mentioned marina, also includes various accommodation facilities (hotels and apartments), many restaurants, numerous sports and recreational facilities and organized excursions to Kornati Archipelago. Murter is an attractive destination both for family holidays and for boaters who would like to visit Kornati National Park. The economy is based on agriculture, wine growing, fishing and tourism.

For boaters, we recommend participating in the Murter-Kornati Regatta held in April and, for families, visits during the traditional cultural and entertainment events sv. Roko (August 16), Murter celebration of Mala Gospa (September 8), as well as the Amateur Drama Festival (May).

The sports and recreational offer includes tennis courts, basketball, indoor soccer, as well as sailing, diving and windsurfing equipment rental. You can take diving courses in the diving clubs Aquanaut and Sportexpert. Various sports competitions are organized during summer. Every year in April, the regatta Murter-Kornati is held. Traditional celebrations such as sv. Roko (August 16) and Murter celebration of Mala Gospa (September 8) take place during summer. A particularly important part of the cultural and entertainment program is the Amateur Drama Festival that takes place in May.
